The Importance of Communication in Engineering and Employment - Week 1
With a partner, read one of the following quotations and prepare a brief explanation of what you think it means to share with the class.
“Employers identify communication as one of the basic competencies every graduate should have, asserting that the ability to communicate is valuable for obtaining employment and maintaining successful job performance.” Sherwyn Morreale, Michael Osborn & Judy Pearson, Professors of Communication (2000)
Francis and I found this quote interesting and relevant because communication is essential in the working world, especially in engineering. Engineers often collaborate with diverse teams and need to explain complex ideas clearly to ensure everyone understands. Good communication helps avoid mistakes, builds trust, and creates a positive working environment. Employers value this skill because it shows we can contribute effectively to a team and the success of a project.
Thanks for the early post of this collaborative interpretation.
